The Bunkhouse is a multi-award-winning music venue and community hub nestled in the vibrant back streets of Swansea city centre.

 

Since opening in 2017, The Bunkhouse has provided a unique platform for local emerging artists, celebrated performers, and major touring acts alike, cementing its place as a cornerstone of South Wales’ music scene.

Founded by a collective of music enthusiasts with a shared vision, The Bunkhouse was created to be more than just a venue; it was established as a space where artists could find a home, develop their craft, and be supported by a dedicated community. In just a few years, we’ve grown from an ambitious start-up into an award-winning and celebrated venue, known for consistently punching above its weight and creating unforgettable experiences for both performers and audiences.

The Bunkhouse features two distinctive stages:

The Park Street Bar Stage: Our more intimate stage hosts jazz nights, comedy shows, poetry readings, acoustic performances, and DJ sets. Perfect for relaxed evenings and post-gig after-parties, this cosy space fosters close connections between artists and their audience.

The Kingsway Main Stage: At the heart of our award-winning venue, this stage has welcomed global touring bands, dynamic DJs, and some of the most promising local acts. It’s where Swansea’s music scene truly comes alive, offering an electrifying atmosphere loved by fans and artists alike.

In 2024, The Bunkhouse’s future was secured when it became the first Welsh venue acquired under the Music Venue Trust’s #OwnOurVenues initiative. Now placed under permanent protected cultural status, The Bunkhouse will continue to serve as a creative hub for generations to come, thanks to the support of our community.

Beyond hosting events, The Bunkhouse is committed to expanding music access and education. We organise external shows across the region, bringing the Bunkhouse experience to wider audiences. Our team also leads workshops and training sessions, empowering new talent and fostering skills in performance, music production, and event management.
